As both a designer and an artist, I combine the structure and strategy of design with the emotionality of art, a juxtaposition that enables me to explore the breadth and depth of my aesthetic interests. Grids to abstraction. Hierarchies to free flowing forms. Simplicity to complexity. Communication to silence.
Although I primarily work with paint, I am continuously exploring new mediums such as embroidery, textiles, and photography in order to evolve my artistic practice. Through these mediums, I address issues pertaining to Blackness—future, joy, and dreams. Oftentimes I will also involve the community in projects, which provides a platform to a variety of authentic voices to cut through stereotypes and create space to look ahead.
